Carolyn received her Master in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine
University and a BA in Literature from UC San Diego.  Her passion
for psychology and wellness began in her early 20s. During this time
she studied mediation, mindfulness and the importance of being in
the present in Northern California. This study continued for several
years before she extended her learning to the mindfulness practice
and research of psychologists Jack Kornfield, PhD and Dan Siegal,
PhD of UCLA.

Her knowledge and experience of mental health grew to include the
research-backed and empirically studied treatment modalities
including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior
Therapy.  She gained this experience as a research assistant at
UCLA for Dr. Bruce Chorpita’s study on the effectiveness of current
mental health technologies for children and adolescents. In addition,
she obtained her graduate and post-graduate clinical training at the
renowned treatment center for eating disorders, Monte Nido Eating
Disorders Treatment Centers, as well as the outpatient treatment
facility for eating disorders in Santa Monica, A New Journey.

Carolyn’s experience also extends to working with grade school
children at Para Los Ninos, and at the long standing non-profit
organization, The Southern California Counseling Center which
dedicates itself to bringing mental health care for at-risk populations
suffering from a broad and diverse set of mental illness and
interpersonal and relational challenges.

Altogether, Carolyn has direct experience working with people
suffering from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance
abuse, ADHD, self-injurious behaviors, Bipolar and related disorders
and insomnia.  She can also help clients find balance and fulfillment
in the wake of complex life transitions.
