Brian Stefan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing online and in-person therapy to adults, children, adolescents, and families. He specializes in Grief & Traumatic Grief, Anxiety (with an emphasis on Intrusive Thoughts), and Suicide Awareness, Prevention, and Bereavement. Brian also works with women and men who have been the victims of Romance Fraud & Financial Exploitation.

Brian is a proud graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles Masters of Social Welfare program (MSW), as well as earning graduate degrees from The London School of Economics and Political Science and National Intelligence University. He is former defense intelligence officer with the Department of Defense and intelligence analyst with the FBI-LAPD Joint Regional Intelligence Center in Los Angeles.

Brian has worked in various settings including Didi Hirsch Mental Health Service-Suicide Prevention Center, Los Angeles Mayor’s Office Crisis Response Team/Suicide Response Team, New Heights Charter Elementary School, Our House Grief Support Center, and the San Gabriel Valley Grief Resource and Training Center. 

He serves as an Advisory Board member for Miry’s List, a non-profit that welcomes and supports new arrival refugee families in communities around the United States. He is a member of the American Association of Suicidology, International Association of Suicide Prevention, National Association of Social Workers, and Truman National Security Project. He is trained in Cognitive Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CT-SP).

Brian is currently a Part-Time Lecturer at California State University, Los Angeles in the School of Social Work. He is also the founder and co-facilitator of the InsightLA monthly mindfulness affinity group for those with personal and/or professional connections to suicide.
