Sylvia Sandler is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#110733) offering individual in-person and telehealth video therapy. She is bilingual and offers therapy in Spanish and English. Sylvia specializes in a wide variety of issues including: Depression, Anxiety, Grief, loss and bereavement, Poor Self-Esteem, Interpersonal Difficulties, Setting and Maintaining Healthy Boundaries, Work-Life Balance and Caregiver Burnout. Sylvia is also passionate about women’s mental health and supporting women through pregnancy loss, parent-child bonding, parental identity and family dynamics.

Born in Mexico City, Sylvia’s immigrant background and familiarity with issues of acculturation and assimilation inspire her to build cross-cultural connections. She values collaboration with people of different backgrounds as well as understanding and respect for all.

Sylvia earned her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute. Prior to private practice, Sylvia worked at Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center. In addition to providing individual, couples and family supportive counseling to those affected by suicide, Sylvia was a Clinical Co-Facilitator for Didi Hirsch’s Survivors After Suicide (SAS) Support Groups. Sylvia was also a Clinical Presenter and Trainer for the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center Speaker’s Bureau offering suicide risk assessment and crisis management training in English and Spanish to health professionals, community organizations and schools. 

Sylvia’s clinical training included providing individual and group counseling at Chabad Treatment Center. Sylvia also delivered mental health services and advocacy to Victims of Crime through the California Victim’s Compensation Board while at The Ness Counseling Center. In the past, Sylvia served as the newsletter editor of LA-CAMFT’s (the Los Angeles Chapter of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists) online monthly newsletter. Sylvia is currently a member of CAMFT, LA-CAMFT and GAMHPA (Glendale Area Mental Health Professionals Association). Sylvia is also an affiliate member of LACPA (Los Angeles County Psychological Association).
